More Christmas presents

I made my mother an event calendar for Christmas so she would be able to remember all her kids and grandkids birthdays and anniversaries. Just last month when we were celebrating Ashley and Zach's birthdays and Jonathan and Christy's wedding anniversary, she was passing around a calendar for everyone to write their information down on it. I was laughing to myself because I had already started making this for her. I just used scraps of paper that I had leftover that I thought would fit the month.
I also used all the monthly Word Puzzles that will retire at the end of this month. I was really disappointed when I first saw them on the retired list but they have come out with a newer set in the Spring 2010 idea book and they are awesome!

Some Christmas presents

For Christmas, I made my great neice Skylar a 6x6 scrapbook. I titled it "Skylar's Book of Firsts" and it included pages for very important "firsts" in her life such as first day, first bath, first smile, etc. It was a very easy project once I sat down and decided what I wanted to include. The paper pack is a retired paper pack from CTMH called Between Friends. I had not used it yet and it worked out perfectly for the album. The stamp set was Baby Steps.

This was a set of Thank you cards I made for my grandsons to send out. I got the idea from another consultant.

Christmas Eve

Here are some pictures of our house and the girls on Christmas Eve. I just couldn't get in the Christmas spirit this year no matter how hard I tried. Gabrielle and Cassidy decorated the tree after I had a mini-meltdown. LOL! I couldn't get the lights on the tree evenly and was about to just take them all off when my daddy came to the rescue. Tony called him and asked him if he would come do it for me. How sweet!

Here is Cassidy in her Santa rocks shirt with a guitar on it. Doesn't she look cute?

And of course, Gabrielle had to play around with the Santa hats. There is a story to this hat. Before my oldest grandson was born, I was determined not to be called "granny", "grandma" or any other old sounding names. I chose to be called "Precious" and my mother found this hat and got it for me. I know, what a silly name! It didn't matter in the long run as my son-in-law always called me "Scrappy" since I was always scrapbooking and it just kinda stuck. Now both my grandkids call me that and I love the name!

I forgot that I hadn't posted this layout yet. This is the layout we did at my November Stamp Club meeting. These colors are my absolute favorite colors! The pictures were taken at the Great Smokey Mountains from 2006. I wish you could really get a good look at them because I got lucky and was able to get some spectacular pictues.

Event Calendar Workshop

These calendars are unique in that they are a place to keep up with birthdays and anniversaries and you don't have to have a new one each year. They would make an excellent Christmas gift! The cost will be $16.75 for one and I will be placing an order on November 7th to ensure that I get them in time. Contact me by email (nancyhoover@hotmail.com) if you are interested in taking this class.

Below is an example of an event calendar. The one we will be making will be using different papers but the design will be the same.

10 years ago today....

I was at the hospital in labor with my youngest daughter, Cassidy. Where has the time gone? She was 3 weeks early but my doctor induced me so I could have her v-back instead of a c-section. We could tell she was going to be another big baby (my 1st weighed 10lbs,4oz and my 2nd weighed 8lbs at 2 weeks early). After having been in labor for so long with Gabrielle, I was bound and determined to have Cassidy quicker. I even told the nurse that I didn't care what they said, I was going to have her today. And I did... at 11:59 pm. Talk about cutting it close! She was worth all the pain and trouble though.

Here is a picture of her after she was born and another on the day we went home from the hospital. Wasn't she so cute? Who would have guessed that such a sweet face could get into so much trouble? LOL!

More deer photos

Warning...don't look if you are a Bambi lover. Cassidy killed her 1st deer yesterday! She was so excited! She got the deer lined up in the scope and then her Daddy took the gun off safety and she shot it. At first they thought it was a doe but once they got to the deer, they discovered that actually it was a "button" buck to which she replied that she wanted to have him mounted. LOL!

She had to ride in the back of the truck with the deer to make sure he didn't go anywhere as they were going to pick up Poppy from his tree stand.

It's traditional to smear blood all over the hunter after their first kill but thank God Tony didn't believe in doing that. Instead he just put a little bit on her to take the picture. You should have seen her when he put it on her. She couldn't get if off soon enough. I can't blame her for that!

The "Mack Daddy", Igloo and Mummy in a Coffin

This post is going to go from one extreme to the other so please bear with me. Remember how I told you that on opening day all they saw were does but they wouldn't shoot them because they were waiting for the "mack Daddy" deer. Well, Tony found him on Tuesday, a 10 point! He is one happy man and is bound and determined to have him mounted even though I told him he already has his allotted number of deer heads on the living room wall. LOL! We'll see who wins this battle.

Cassidy just learned about all different tribes of American Indians in school and had to pick a tribe and make a special project. She chose to make a model home and here are some pictures of the final product. I bought 3 boxes of sugar cubes and she hot glued them together around a metal bowl. She used a LOT of glue to make it stick. Her teacher said she did a great job and is putting it on display next week at our local fair along with some other classmates. Whoo Hoo!

My oldest grandson's birthday is October 29th, just 4 years and 1 day after my youngest daughter Cassidy's birthday. Since their birthdays are so close to Halloween, it lends itself nicely to have costume parties. I went to Ashley's house last night and helped her make Chandler's birthday invitations. I got the idea from here.

I think they turned out pretty cute. We cut out all the peices and all she has to do now is put them all together.

On another note, while I was there last night, Chandler started running a high temp, almost 104 degrees! Ashley took him to the doctor today and it turns out he has the H1N1 virus! The doctor said that since she brought him so quickly hopefully the Tamiflu will work. Please keep them in your prayers.
